Big color. “Place-Reader” Point of View.

My work gives your space a clear visual identity, creates a stronger sense of place, and makes the environment feel intentional instead of generic. It grows out of that same habit of close looking: noticing how environments work and feel, then translating those observations into a vivid visual language that feels true to where it lives.

My work grows out of my Cultural Design Blueprint framework, which treats places as layered environments shaped by movement, structure, and human presence. I start by reading a place the way I’ve learned to read cities over decades of practice and teaching: noticing scale, rhythm, density, edges, light, and the emotional charge of spaces. From there, I translate what I’m sensing into color, line, and composition.

My method is also informed by the graphics side of my career. For years I have produced visualizations for urban design and planning projects, and I teach visualization and graphics in higher education in city and regional planning. That background gives the work a disciplined visual structure, even when the final piece is abstract. The goal is not to depict a location literally, but to distill its feel into something vivid, coherent, and memorable.

I love communicating ideas about places through graphics in professional practice and in the classroom. (I teach planning visualization and graphics, and I’ve trained students to see how form, experience, and identity can be expressed visually.) My artwork grows directly out of that long-running habit: observing how environments work and feel, then translating those observations into a visual language that belongs to the place.
